Blackwood duo INTO THE ARK, Dane Lloyd and Taylor Jones who chose Tom Jones to be their mentor on ITV’s The Voice UK will be lighting up the main stage at Burning Lantern on the 12th of August
INTO THE ARK formed when Dane and Taylor met as teenagers on the live circuit in Wales, bonding over their love of writing and each other’s taste in music. Since then, the band have been doing everything they can to try and make those important steps in the music industry – busking, gigging, sleeping in the back of their second hand van, whilst endlessly writing and dreaming about landing a record deal.
INTO THE ARK auditioned ‘blind’ on The Voice by performing their own chilled, soulful version of the Elvis Presley classic Burning Love, and three chairs turned …. Gavin Rossdale, Jennifer Hudson and Sir Tom Jones. Shocked. Unsurprisingly, INTO THE ARK chose Welsh icon Sir Tom Jones as their mentor.
In the closing months of 2016, INTO THE ARK released two indie singles on their own label, Blackwood Records (through Kobalt) and made a strong impression with debut single My Ghost - the track was picked up and played by BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Wales and it featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist the day it came out which helped it chart on Spotify’s Viral 50 UK. The video for My Ghost was premiered by CLASH Magazine and also featured on E4’s Made in Chelsea and was an airplay hit in The Netherlands after being played by national Dutch radio station, Q Music (the equivalent of BBC Radio 1 in the UK).
Just before Christmas, INTO THE ARK built on that initial success with the release of second single Brightest Creatures which was again picked up by BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Wales plus there were appearances on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist and DEEZER’s Brand New UK playlist. Brightest Creatures was used as the soundtrack to the Premier League goal montage on The BBC’s flagship football programme Match Of The Day on New Year’s Day 2017.
